'Project Power' has a mix of everything — thriller, family drama, action and a lot of superhero-ing to go around. In the film, Jamie Foxx plays a lone wolf soldier Art, who is desperate to find his daughter, Tracy, at any cost. She was kidnapped and taken away by 'special' forces, due to the fact that she possessed latent superpowers that could be enormously beneficial for human evolution. Along the way, he encounters aspiring rapper Robin (Dominique Fishback) and has the cop, Frank (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), hot on his trail.

The main premise of 'Project Power' revolves around mysterious pills, and when they're consumed, they give a person superpowers for a short span of time and there's a chance they can kill you. They can hulk-out, self-immolate, or have powers like Elsa from the 'Frozen' franchise. We aren't kidding, 'Frozen' is actually referenced in the film. However, the pills are being tested on humans, and will also be weaponized.

Nevertheless, Art is determined to find his daughter and predictably he gets caught in the crosshairs of the police force. However, as it is revealed, the police force is just as corrupt and the organization behind the pills is eager to get their hands on Art, who gives Frank a heads-up. Art is taken to the special headquarters, where his daughter has been kept, and he isn't allowed to see her. We find out that they need her powers 'to advance' human evolution, and hence, they are making and testing these pills on innocent humans, even if it costs them their lives at points. They think they're doing it for the better good, but Art doesn't buy it. Meanwhile, Frank and Robin break into the headquarters, to rescue both Tracy and Art. After a lot of gunfight and gore, father and daughter have an emotional reunion and they prepare to escape. However, at the last minute, Robin is taken hostage.

And then Art, who had formed a close bond with Robin, decides to sacrifice his life to save hers. He consumes one of the pills, self-immolates, killing several members from the organization as well as the kidnappers and it takes a toll on him. He seems to be dead, but his daughter, Tracy, saves him with her healing powers. And so, all's well that ends well. At the end of the film, Art gives Robin a hug and tells her to go focus on her dreams and returns to his life with Tracy.

'Project Power' is streaming on Netflix.
