Prince Harry 'snapped' over how Meghan was being treated, says insider: 'Megxit was HIS call'
Quoting an insider source, Us Weekly revealed that Prince Harry hit his limit before him and Meghan Markle made the official decision to move to Canada.
The source told the magazine about Prince Harry's mental turmoil before Megxit. “When it became clear Meghan was never going to get a fair shake, Harry snapped,” the source says. “He’s adamant that it was his call to move to Canada.”
A second insider also claimed to know the reasons behind the move. "[Harry] wants to shield his son from the negativity and tension he would’ve been exposed to back in England. He knows what it’s like to grow up in the spotlight, and he wants to give Archie the most normal upbringing possible.”
The couple was in England for their last official engagement working for Queen Elizabeth II on March 9. They then went to their current residence in Vancouver, Canada to reunite with their 10-month-old son, Archie.
Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, will remain in Canada for the foreseeable future as they self-quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, the couple is still "working" from home on their brand. They addressed Instagram users about mental health issues during the coronavirus lockdown in several cities and states across North America on March 18.
Posting from their still functional @SussexRoyal, the pair wrote: "These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary. There are so many around the world who need support right now, who are working tirelessly to respond to this crisis behind the scenes, on the frontline, or at home. Our willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring. This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit."
They added that they will be "sharing information and resources to help all of us navigate the uncertainty: from posting accurate information and facts from trusted experts, to learning about measures we can take to keep ourselves and our families healthy, to working with organizations that can support our mental and emotional well-being."
They continued: “Our willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring. This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit … All of our lives are in some way affected by this, uniting each of us globally. How we approach each other and our communities with empathy and kindness is indisputably important right now.”
However, British tabloids have already slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of missing the mark entirely, while praising the Queen's thoughtful message to her subjects. The Queen thanked medical experts and scientists who were working tirelessly to find a cure for the virus. She also stated: "I am reminded that our nation’s history has been forged by people and communities coming together to work as one, concentrating our combined efforts with a focus of a common goal... Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe I am certain we are up to that challenge. You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part."
