Prince Harry will end up as Meghan's butler after Megxit and hit the bottom, says ex-Sun editor

'She came from nothing and ended up at the top. Harry, started at the top, ending up down the bottom,' he said

The former editor of The Sun, Kelvin Mackenzie, has predicted a bleak future for Prince Harry, who is all set to officially quit as a senior royal member on March 31.

"I’ve never seen anybody so welcomed to our country as Meghan. Honestly, it was fantastic. I will always remember her mother in that carriage heading towards Windsor Castle, it was a fantastic scene. I wonder what the mother thought at that time and I massively admire Meghan," he said, which initially seemed like he was paying the couple a compliment, New Idea reported. However, his comments soon took a completely different turn as he compared the former 'Suits' star's Cinderella-like rags-to-riches story to the Duke's life.

"She came from nothing and ended up at the top. Harry, started at the top, ending up down the bottom. It’s a very funny thing. He’s going to end up as a butler. When the phone rings, it won’t be for him," he said.

Mackenzie made these remarks during his appearance on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain' recently, following close on the heels of Meghan's return to the UK for the couple's 'farewell tour' before Megxit.

He concluded by predicting and Harry and Meghan's marriage will not be long and lasting. "That marriage will last shorter than some of mine," he said.

The claims came a day after Harry and Meghan were invited by the Queen to join her for church service in Windsor on Sunday. “It was a really sweet gesture that the Queen asked them to church,” a source told People Magazine. “It’s telling in the sense that these two are still her family. And as a family, they all love each other.”

The move was in line with the monarch's announcement earlier this year that Meghan, Harry and her great-grandson Archie “will always be much-loved members of my family,” despite stepping down as senior members.

"I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life. I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family. It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life," she said at the time.
