President Donald Trump has reportedly designated December 5 as a National Day of Mourning after former President George HW Bush's death on November 30. A spokesperson for the Bush family, Jim McGrath, said that the former president died shortly after 10 p.m on Friday, nearly eight months after the death of his late wife Barbara Bush.

Trump also tweeted a tribute for the former president, saying: "President George H.W. Bush led a long, successful and beautiful life. Whenever I was with him I saw his absolute joy for life and true pride in his family. His accomplishments were great from beginning to end. He was a truly wonderful man and will be missed by all!"

The announcement was made by press secretary Sarah Sanders in Buenos Aires, where President Donald Trump is attending the ongoing G-20 summit. Sanders' statement suggested that Trump and the first lady would attend the former president's funeral, which is scheduled to be held at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. "The president will designate Wednesday 5 December as a National Day of Mourning," Sanders said.
