EPL Transfer Deadline: Josh King to Buendia, 5 hottest Championship prospects that could shine in Premier League
The summer transfer window deadline may have ended on October 5 with clubs making some good acquisitions. However, with the domestic window open till October 16, there is still scope for clubs to sign some impressive players ahead of the start of the matchday week. While the names might not be as high-profile as the Alacantra's and the Partey's, however, the talent pool has enough to add more depth to various aspects of the clubs.
Ahead of the start of sporting action, here's a quick look at the top five players in the championship who could find themselves a place in the roster of the top-tier teams in the Premier League.
Josh King
AFC Bournemouth's forward, Joshua King has been shown keen interest in by Aston Villa and West Brom, says an NBC report. Previously, King was linked with major teams, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. If the move does materialize either with Villa or Brom, it will see King join the top-tier league with strikers Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser who were lapped up by Newcastle earlier. Sportsmail reckons King might have a chance of being lapped up by either West Brom or West Ham.
Ismaila Sarr
Sarr was looked at as Manchester United's next option as they failed to sign Jadon Sancho and reportedly showed keen interest in the Senegal forward. However, recent changes saw Crystal Palace make a move for the Watford star. According to The Sun, Palace want to offer £30 million ($38m) for Sarr and if the deal is inked, it would be a club record for an upfront fee. He scored five goals and recorded four assists in the Premier League last season and Palace would benefit with an attacking option.
Max Aarons
The Norwich City defender made headlines after being sought by Barcelona and Bayern Munich. While the deals failed to come through, a Daily Mail report says Jose Mourinho and his Spurs are keen on signing Aarons although, he explained he would leave those matters to people who would take care of it. Talking to The Athletic, he said, "I just leave that to the people off the pitch, like Stuart or the club, to deal with. Anything else that happens or takes place; it’s not really in my hands. All I can do as a professional footballer is try to develop my game."
Said Benrahma
The Algerian winger was one of the top-performing players in the Championship last and he made headlines last week after it was reported the Hammers had agreed for a £25 million deal, which included £17m pay upfront with the Bees. West Ham were looked at as the potential winners to avail Benrahma's services, however, there has been a stall with reports emerging the club might make a move for Josh King instead.
Emi Buendia
Buendia garnered interest when he had a scintillating 2019 season. Aston Villa and Leeds United are reportedly in the race to sign the Norwich city midfielder. However, Buendia might dent a hole in the wallet as he still has four years left as part of his Norwich contract. Bielsa will be keen to strengthen his midfield with an attacking midfielder in Buendia.
