Porn star Ron Jeremy faces 20 new sexual assault charges and 250 years, Internet jokes about Trump hiring him

These new charges against Jeremy span 16 years dating back to 2004, with the alleged victims ranging in age from 15 to 54

On Monday, August 31, adult film star Ron Jeremy was charged with 20 additional sexual assault counts, involving 13 women and a teen girl, that date back to 2004, as per the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The charges announced on Monday include six counts of sexual battery by restraint, five counts of forcible rape, three counts of forcible oral copulation, two counts of forcible penetration by a foreign object, and one count each of sodomy, assault with intent to commit rape, penetration by a foreign object on an unconscious or sleeping victim and lewd conduct with a 15-year-old girl.

As per reports, these new charges span 16 years dating back to 2004, with the alleged victims ranging in age from 15 to 54. Jeremy, whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, was previously charged on June 23 with three counts each of forcible rape and forcible penetration by a foreign object and one count each of forcible oral copulation and sexual battery.

As per reports, six of the incidents allegedly occurred at a West Hollywood bar where Jeremy was a regular, with a seventh allegedly taking place in the parking lot outside it. The most recent alleged assault, which is reported to have happened this January, took place outside an unspecified business in Hollywood. If convicted on all charges, he could face "a possible maximum sentence of more than 250 years to life in state prison," the LA County District Attorney's Office said.

The 67-year-old porn star was reportedly ordered to return to court in October when a date for a preliminary hearing is expected to be scheduled.

In the aftermath of the news about Jeremy, his name began trending on social media, with many taking digs at him, his looks, and his career as an adult film actor. One Twitter user wrote, “Ron Jeremy faces a life sentence for sexual assault against a dozen women, and a minor, giving a bad name to fat, grotesque porn stars everywhere. Look at him d***-nosin' his mask, proof that he violates consent.”

Another, taking note of the possible sentence, wrote, “I think it's safe to say Ron Jeremy's porn career is over.”

One joked, “I saw Ron Jeremy trending and thought he had either died or announced a presidential endorsement.”

But the jokes soon turned political. Perhaps because, on Twitter, Jeremy was trending under the tag “politics”. One Twitter user wrote, “I saw Ron Jeremy was trending. I assumed it was because Trump had appointed him to a cabinet post…” to which another said, “Presidential pardon for #RonJeremy in 3...2...1…”

One Twitter user said, “Sees 'Ron Jeremy' trending. Thinks 'Trump's changed campaign managers again?’” to which another said, “Ron Jeremy would be perfect as campaign manager. He and @realDonaldTrump have so much in common. Maybe they will have adjoining cells in prison.”

One Twitter user noted, “Ron Jeremy is trending in politics because #Trump will hire him.”

Another said, "I thought for sure Ron Jeremy was trending because he took a position in the Trump Administration???"
