Pittsburgh Pirates' Felipe Vazquez, 29, who sexually assaulted girl, 13, called her 'slave' and 'my possession'
The girl, who is now 17, cried while describing how Vazquez had sex with her in his car just outside her home before he was heading to a game
GREENSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: Former MLB pitcher Felipe Vazquez, who is facing several charges related to sexual misconduct with a minor, allegedly texted the 13-year-old girl to have sex with him, calling her a “slave” and “my possession”, according to the testimony during his trial.
Vazquez, 29, is currently standing trial facing dozens of charges against him in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. His charges include statutory sexual assault, indecent assault of someone under 16, corruption of a minor and unlawful contact with a minor.
The two-time Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star has been in custody at the Westmoreland County Prison without bond since he was arrested in September 2019. In a shocking testimony, the girl whom Vazquez allegedly texted said that she and Vazquez had sex in his car outside her Pittsburgh-area home in 2017 when she was just 13 years old, hours before an afternoon Pirates game, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The girl, who is now 17, cried while describing how Vazquez pulled down her pants and briefly penetrated her. Vazquez told the court that the girl told him she was an adult at the time, adding she had messaged him a photo ID showing she was of legal age. But the girl has denied showing him any ID proof.
The court session on May 19, which focused on the electronic evidence found on Vazquez’s phone and laptop, found nude photos, videos and sexual conversations, according to the Post-Gazette. Vazquez and the minor began chatting when she reached out to him on Instagram in summer 2017 to wish him a happy birthday, according to Westmoreland County Assistant District Attorney James Lazar. Suprisingly, Vazquez replied and to her text message and asked her to communicate with him via Snapchat. In their conversations, the girl called Vazquez “papi”, “daddy” and “bae”. He called her “mami” and “babe”. In some of the messages revealed in the court, Vazquez called the girl “slave” and “my possession”.
When Vazquez and the girl planned to meet again in Orlando in 2018, he texted her, “You’re going to stop being a kid now?” and told her to “grow up”, according to her testimony. In another 2019 exchange, the girl sent Vazquez a photo in her underwear, to which he responded, “Wow look at you. Not the one little kid I meet three years ago anymore.” Vazquez is also accused of doing a sex act in a video that he sent her in July 2019, according to police. One message included a photo of Vazquez in his underwear. The girl’s mother testified that she discovered the messages between Vazquez and her daughter after the family moved to Florida in 2019.
