So here we are at last, at the final stop in the road. It's time to say goodbye to the adorable guide dogs that we've fallen in love with and faithfully followed over the past couple of months now. It's been a long, challenging journey, filled with many ups and downs, and quite a few joyous and poignant moments that's managed to tug on our collective heartstrings. But now the time has come for the dogs to fulfill their destiny, and embark on the trail they've been training for all their lives.

We first set eyes on these guide dogs while they were still adorable little pups, and we've watched them blossom into obedient, mature and confident guide dogs. So much time and effort has gone into ensuring that these dogs were adequately trained and polished in their behavior, but it's all been worth it just to see the smiles on the faces of their new visually-impaired owners. As far as journeys go, this has certainly been one to cherish, and it will undoubtedly leave us with many lasting memories of the dogs and all the people involved in their development. Here are our biggest takeaways from 'Pick of the Litter' Episode 6, fittingly titled 'Together At Last'.

The show has been an emotional roller coaster

Some of the moments on this show can honestly take your breath away, leaving you panting for more - if you're a dog lover, or even just a casual fan of dogs, just one episode of following these noble creatures (and their passionate trainers) around can leave you welling up with emotion. From the dizzying highs of seeing the dogs progress through the eight-phase training and graduation, to the bittersweet lows when they didn't meet expectations and had to be "career changed," it's been an incredible adventure and certainly and enlightening six weeks. There was so much to absorb in terms of raw emotionality and sentimentality, and this show never shied away from hitting you right in the feels when it counted. There's a lot of love and affection on display in this show, and you're left marveling at how they managed to pull it all off so spectacularly well.

Sometimes things don't always work out

Despite all that time, effort, and carefully-calibrated development, things don't always go according to plan. Sometimes, even after a blind owner and their new guide dog have been paired up, and initially appear to be a match made in heaven, they could still fail to meet expectations and end up being unable to gel. In some instances, it's the dogs who are still a little unsure of themselves and the lofty standards they are required to adhere to post-graduation. And in other cases, it's the visually impaired owners themselves who need to work on their orientation skills and require a bit more time to ensure that they will sync up perfectly with their guide dogs. And while it may be a minor setback, it's never the end of their story - the Guide Dogs for the Blind school believes in second chances, and the visually impaired owners will receive plenty more opportunities to find their perfect match.

We hope there will be a Season 2!

After having our hearts captured by the adorable dogs on this show, and seeing just how much love and attention was invested into them, we have to confess that we're still pretty invested in this ourselves! We really wanted to see the dog raisers, trainers, instructors, owners, and the perfect pooches themselves succeed at every step of the way! Indeed, it seems as of we've shared every single high and low point of the journey so far with them as if they were members of our own family. So, if Disney Plus is planning to make a second season of 'Pick of the Litter' with a different set of dogs and trainers, you can be sure that we will be just as excited about it as we were about season 1!
