Pet owner slammed for spending $1,500 on plastic surgery for cat as she thought its eyes were 'ugly'

A Chinese pet owner has come under heavy criticism from various quarters after she put her cat through cosmetic plastic surgery. The woman, who is from Nanjing in Jiangsu province, reportedly shelled out 10,000 yuan ($1,497) for an Asian blepharoplasty, more commonly known as a double-eyelid operation, because she thought her pet's eyes were "ugly."
According to the Daily Mail, the surgery involves vets adding a crease on the animal's eyelids by making a cut on each eyelid with a scalpel, a procedure that is popular in the country because of a general belief that having double-eyelids make eyes appear larger and more attractive.
But the surgery on the woman's cat wasn't as successful as expected, with images released by a local television station showing the feline with a line of stitches visible under each eye, with the area around them significantly red and swollen.
