Kyle Rittenhouse shares cryptic tweet, critics say 'look in the mirror'
KENOSHA, WISCONSIN: Kyle Rittenhouse has once again garnered attention with his latest tweet. The 19-year-old, who fatally shot two people in Kenosha on the night of August 25 in 2020, was acquitted of all charges following a trial that divided the nation over the issue of gun rights.
In his latest tweet he said, “I've learned a lot of lessons this year. One of the biggest ones is to watch the people closest to you. People will betray you to benefit themselves. People will lie and cheat you. People will try to manipulate and change truth to fit their agenda. I learned the hard way.”

People were quick to respond to his tweet with one tweet remarking, “Take a moment and look at yourself in the mirror; ask yourself why so many on the Right think you are special? Survey those closest to you and how they’ve made money off of your presence? Then ask yourself if you want to be remembered for the rest of your life for what you did?”

Another Twitter user linked the Rittenhouse’s tweet to his celebrity status. “Sadly the way it goes when you have celebrity. I have been around a few people at what you might call the top level, and its sad how trust is lost so easily because they start to believe everyone is there just for what they can get,” wrote the user. Another came forward and advised Rittenhouse to be careful but not take these things too seriously. “You're young. Don't become cynical. Being careful is wise but becoming cynical will eat your soul. Remember that when someone betrays you that is their character flaw, not yours. Be the kind of friend a friend would like to have because the only person you can control is you”, wrote the user. Another supporter of Rittenhouse wrote, “The political world is full of sociopaths, people w/ outside agendas, & self-promoters that will kick you down a flight of stairs to get 100 likes on Twitter. Good & trustworthy people are few & far between. You're popular & inexperienced, so you are a prime target. #staysafe”

During a night of unrest in Kenosha, sparked by the police shooting of a 29-year-old black man, Jacob Blake, Rittenhouse armed himself with an AR-15-style rifle and crossed state lines to get to Kenosha to fight protestors. He was accused of killing two Black Lives Matters protestors Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injuring Gaige Grosskreutz. This followed a highly-watched and debated trial in which the prosecutors struggled to contest the claim that Rittenhouse "acted in self-defence." He was found not guilty by the jury at the Kenosha County Courtin Wisconsin on November 19, 2021. The verdict polarised the nation as many were disappointed that Rittenhouse was being let out. At the same time there were people who celebrated his release and saw it as a victory for gun rights.
