Pennsylvania man registers alligator as emotional support animal, says it's "like a puppy dog"
One York County, Pennsylvania, man is redefining the meaning of emotional support animals after proving his pet alligator is just as comforting as any cat or dog.
Sixty five-year-old Joie Henney's home in Strinestown serves as an adobe to two alligators, one of which is a four-and-a-half-foot-long, registered emotional support animal who goes by the name of Wally.
According to the York Daily Record, Henney had his own hunting and fishing TV show called 'Joie Henney's Outdoors' that ran for the last 10 years, and during its run Wally came under his care in September 2015 via a gator-rescuing friend from Florida.
The gator was 14-months-old and just one-and-a-half-foot-long at the time. As bizarre as taking a gator under your care might be, Henney had a history with the reptiles and had been involved in the rescue of several of them in York County.
