Pennsylvania dance teacher raped student, 15, more than 50 times, groomed him with nudes and sexual texts
A Pennsylvania dance teacher allegedly raped a 15-year-old student whom she had taught since the age of 10 over 50 times. 24-year-old Carly Green of Aston, Delaware County, was charged with statutory sexual assault and institutional sexual assault of a child after she allegedly raped a former student, CBS Philly reported.
"Every parent’s worst nightmare," said Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer. "This is a sad case involving a teacher, as well as a family friend, abusing the trust placed in her by both the parent and the child."
"The defendant chose to exploit the relationship of trust built over several years by engaging in a sexual relationship with the victim, knowing full well both the age of the child and the legal age of consent. The law cannot tolerate this flagrant disregard for the guardrails that we have erected to keep our children safe,” Stollsteimer continued.
Green allegedly raped the student more than 50 times since she began teaching him. During interrogation, the student told police he was only 15 when the sexual relationship began in 2018. According to the report, the boy was enrolled at the Dance Obsessions studio, where Green was a dance instructor. When investigators scoured the teen's phone, they found inappropriate text messages between him and Green, as well as nude photos she reportedly sent him. Police said the duo exchanged images on Snapchat and had rekindled their sexual relationship in 2019.
Meanwhile, the victim's mother said she suspected something was wrong when her son was visibly depressed and his grades were dropping. She confronted him as to why he had started vaping and consuming alcohol, which is when the teen reportedly admitted to having a sexual relationship with the dance teacher. The heartbroken mother then got the authorities involved. "As difficult as this situation is, I applaud the victim’s parent for being alert to warning signs," Stollsteimer said. "She saw changes in her son’s behavior and followed up on her concerns. Law enforcement can’t do it alone – we need the help of parents in protecting our kids."
The defendant turned herself in on September 4 and was granted a $50,000 bail shortly after. She is scheduled to appear before Judge Diane Holefelder on September 25.
Earlier this month, we reported how a Catholic school teacher was facing charges after she allegedly had sex with a male student from the school when he was 17 years old. 36-year-old Bridget Sipera is accused of initiating a sexual relationship with a 'recent graduate' of Camden Catholic High School where she had been teaching literature. Sipera had begun the relationship last year in January with it lasting for 18 months, Daily Mail reported. Sipera was arrested on multiple charges which included second-degree sexual assault on August 26 after the unidentified boy told the local police about the relationship on August 6, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office revealed. The police revealed that the relationship had started after the student had been in one of Sipera's classes. According to ABC, the victim had told the authorities that the relationship had gone on for around 18 months which included at least 60 sexual encounters that occurred in various locations all over Cherry Hill.
