Pennsylvania Station, which is also known as New York Penn Station or Penn Station, is the busiest railroad station that witnesses thousands of passengers on a daily basis. But, despite its extensive service, people seem to hate the place for a lot of reasons.

On July 6, a Twitter user whose handle goes by MosesNYC shared a tweet naming the three worst places in NYC. The tweet stated, "Currently in a heated debate about top three worst places in NYC. My answers are Columbus Circle Whole Foods, Union Pool & Grand Army Plaza (Brooklyn). I am countered with the 86th st. 4/5/6 station, the Port Authority Bus Terminal & the NY Aquarium."

The tweet soon went viral as the internet users took to Twitter to add Penn Station as the worst place in NYC, stating multiple reasons. One Twitter user explained why they hate using Penn Station to commute and wrote, “I’ve figured out why I feel so uneasy in Penn Station: ceilings are too low. Throw in the crowds, police officers, and the entrances... feels like you’re in a shoebox or something. It’s one of those places where, no matter the time, one scream or holler can trigger chaos."

“The worst train station is probably 34th-Penn because you come out into Penn station, which is an ugly labyrinth. Can be hard to figure out how to come out into the city from there. The worst place is probably some housing project," added another.

Meanwhile, a few noted that Penn Station has lost its charm over the years owing to the renovation, which has destroyed its original architecture. While one wrote, "It’s interesting Penn Station is trending on ⁦@Twitter⁩ because I just saw this yesterday. The old Penn Station was the epitome of architecture, engineering, and ingenuity." And another user tweeted, “Penn Station is the worst public architecture in the United States. It’s as though the designers studied every good thing about Grand Central and then did the exact opposite."

Sharing a picture of the old and new Penn Station, one user said, "The destruction of Penn Station was a civic tragedy. Look at the ceilings of the old beauty compared to the claustrophobic sewer that exists today."
