Pedophile fatally poisons 9-year-old girl with chloroform while sexually assaulting her: 'He was probably trying to knock her out'
A 34-year-old man from Colorado has been accused of fatally poisoning a nine-year-old girl with chloroform as he attempted to sexually assault her, according to an arrest affidavit from the Grand Junction Police Department.
Jeffrey Beagley is facing multiple charges related to the nine-year-old's death and multiple child sex charges following police finding thousands of pornographic images and videos in his possession during their investigation. He was arrested on December 14.
It was on November 9 that the police responded to a call from a home on Hill Avenue in Grand Junction. According to the affidavit, at around 7 am, Beagley called 911 to report that he found the nine-year-old was unresponsive. She was found on the floor of the house and was not breathing. The child was later pronounced dead.
According to a report in Daily Mail, the police also said that they found a makeshift tent made out of a painted tarp inside a shed on the property. There were blankets, pillows, multiple computers, a cell phone, equipment for recording video, balloons, sex toys, masks, lubricants and an empty bottle of chloroform with a rag. The police also found a red-brown stain which they suspected to be drops of blood, according to the affidavit.
After obtaining the necessary warrant to access the computers and cell phone in the shed, the police recovered 1,616 photos and 75 videos, most of which were child pornography. Some of these videos and pictures featured the victim. The videos were recorded on a hidden camera placed in Beagly's bathroom.
Upon further investigation, police also discovered that the bottle of chloroform found in the shed had been ordered by Beagley and had been delivered on November 8, a day before the child was found dead. It was noted in the affidavit that a chloroform-soaked rag can be used by assailants to knock out a sexual assault victim.
According to the affidavit, Beagley is being held on the followings charges: first-degree murder, reckless manslaughter, child abuse resulting in death, sexual exploitation of children, attempted sex assault on a child by one in a position of trust, and invasion of privacy for sexual gratification.
After an autopsy, high levels of chloroform was found in the victim's body and her death was ruled as homicide by chloroform poisoning. Beagley is being held without bond and is due in court on December 31.
