West Virginia pedophile mom, who sexually assaulted girl aged 5-6 and filmed abuse, faces 300 years in jail
PRINCETON, WEST VIRGINIA: A pedophile mother from Princeton, West Virginia, who molested a five or six-year-old girl in a bathtub while filming the abuse is facing 300 years in jail.
Elizabeth Haway, 42, pleaded guilty to seven charges, including sexual assault, sexual abuse and incest on Monday.
After realizing that her horrific crimes could see her jailed for life, the woman broke down in tears. While Haway's sentencing is scheduled to take place on February 28, she faces a maximum of three centuries in prison.
Mercer County Sheriff’s Office obtained videos of the abusive mother molesting a girl, estimated to be around five or six years old, before they began a probe into Haway's actions in April.
According to the report, Haway had sent the abuse material to a friend on Facebook, when the site's moderators flagged the content and alerted authorities.
The same child had previously been abused by an adult man in another video, Detective Sergeant Steve Sommers said.
When Sommers began unraveling Haway's abuse, he stumbled upon a third video of that man abusing the same girl in her bathroom.
"I also observed that the bathtub had distinct cracking of the molding at the wall and bathtub and that the adult female had a tattoo on her finger of a smiley face (two dots and a line)," Sommers said, explaining how they were able to identify the pervert.
Sommers, during a subsequent search of Haway's residence, noticed her bathroom was identical to the one he saw in the clips. Furthermore, her tattoos were a perfect match with those captured on camera.
According to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the victim is now in the care of social services.
While Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is yet to reveal more details about the man seen in the videos, Haway is currently remanded in custody at the Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond until her upcoming sentencing.
