Pedophile doctor who raped minor daughter for 10 years and forced her to have an abortion sentenced to 16 years
A 74-year-old pedophile has been jailed for raping his own daughter for a decade and forcing her to have an abortion after she got pregnant. The man whose name has not been revealed sexually abused her daughter since she was eight. The abuse went until the victim turned 18.
The man has been given 16-and-a-half years behind bars for the two charges of indecent assault and incest. He will get parole only after serving 11-and-a-half years in jail.
While sentencing the man, who by profession is a doctor and worked until 2019, a judge at the County Court of Victoria told him that he should be more ashamed of his actions than he is.
“Your conduct was shameful and evil. It was totally destructive and perverse. You should be totally ashamed of yourself, more ashamed than you actually are,” Judge Michael Tinney told the man. Tinney also added that the evil acts of the man would continue to haunt the victim, now a woman and a mother, throughout the rest of her life, long after the man was gone. “You betrayed every duty you owed to her as a father. You did that for close to a decade,” the judge added.
According to reports, the unnamed man started to abuse his daughter while she was still eight. The sexual abuse started with touchings and eventually led to penetration, often without condom, by the time she was 14 or 15. The man also reportedly gave names like “little wife” or “secret wife” to the victim and lied to her about his relationship with her mother. He told the girl that he was having problems with his wife and that they cannot have sex.
Besides, to stop his daughter from getting pregnant, the pedophile often gave her the morning after pill. But the girl still got pregnant, following which the father rebuked her and booked an abortion appointment for her under a false name. “You were a GP and know what that procedure would involve. You just dropped her off – you didn't even go inside the clinic with her. Not even that served as a wake-up call – thereafter, you gave her the contraceptive pill and continued with your damaging and pervasive conduct,” Judge Tinney as reported by The Daily Mail.
Reports have claimed that the daughter confronted her evil father in recorded phone calls as an adult after her own daughter turned eight. The woman blamed the man for the wrongs he did to her and later told police it “would have been helpful if she resisted but she was too accepting and passive”.
The judge was appalled at the man’s reaction even after pleading guilty to abusing his own daughter on more than 100 occasions and leaving her with a sense of abandonment and betrayal. “You have, simply, deliberately exploited and debased your daughter through all the formative portions of her childhood and adolescence... caused vast harm to someone who it was your duty to love, nurture and protect,” Tinney told the man.
