'Peaky Blinders' Season 6: Michael Gray might claim Thomas Shelby's throne as his 'successor'

Michael Gray and Gina Gray have too many problems with their family members and are only looking for a way to head back to the States.

Since the very beginning, the fifth season of 'Peaky Blinders' has been hinting at the rising rivalry between cousins Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and Michael Gray (Finn Cole). It began with the financial crisis of 1929 that loomed over the Shelby empire in New York. Throughout the beginning of the season, Tommy spurted out one sarcastic comment after another after Michael returned to Birmingham.

He was also worried about a 'Black Cat' in his family and there were many hints that Michael's wife, Gina Gray (Anya Taylor-Joy), could be the one. The couple has too many problems with their family members and is only looking for a way to head back to the States.

In the fourth episode, Gina Gray shares a mysterious glance with Mosley at the ballet party. Why does Michael's (Finn Cole) wife look at the politician and what is the hidden connection between the two? The scene barely lasts for a few seconds but has managed to raise strong suspicions of impending betrayal.

A Reddit user reflected on the scenario and posted his observation. "Michael held onto stocks and got fucked by the market crash. So, many pieces finally come together. I'd bet a good amount of money that it's Gina and her affiliation to Mosely, there's a reason they are keeping Michael x Gina meeting and marrying in some sort of recap as a secret currently. Mosely is an enemy, and that look Gina and him gave to each other at the ballet made it all the more obvious. It's so damn obvious that Gina is the black cat, I'm surprised I haven't seen more spoiler warning posts regarding Gina as the black cat."

While they did not have much to do in the fifth episode, Michael broke all hell loose when he suggested that he become the head of the business in America while Tommy just remains a hidden owner at the backhand. "I will be Managing Director and you can be executive chairman," he tells Tommy in a scene. "You will be addressed as Mr. Jones."

As expected, Tommy turned down his plans and there's a strong possibility that Michael could attempt to steal Tommy's throne, going by his dialogue: "See this for what it is — a natural succession of what must happen." Moreover, Tommy is struggling with his mental health and even attempted to kill himself towards the end of the season. As season six rolls out, Tommy's life could take a huge turn.
