Manchester United's Paul Pogba has landed himself in a soup. Fans of the club have been roasting the French midfielder following his comments where he wished to play for Real Madrid. The 27-year-old expressed his wish to play for the side while being on international duty playing in the ongoing Nations League club. He said it was a "dream" to play for Madrid in March 2019.

However, a Manchester Evening News report said his United mates have still backed him and believe he is one of the best players in the side. Meanwhile, United fans don't seem to have taken kindly to Pogba's dream. "Pogba doesn’t respect us, United fans" read one of the tweets while anger poured in from some more. "United should make him train with the reserves. He’s hopeless and does nothing but cause drama," added one of the fans.

"We don't want u Leave united Paul, We Have Donny & Bruno," read one of the comments. "He loves being carried in the French team, a fraud at United, can’t tackle, run, track back, constantly turns into trouble and lets Bruno do all his graft. If he had the choice he would only play international football and dab the rest," wrote a fan.

There was support from some small quarter though. "Childhood dreams don’t just die, if @paulpogba dreams of playing for @realmadriden so be it! As of now he is a #Mufc player and gets my support no matter what. And btw lets play him further up field. Have an idea out there!!" a fan remarked.

"Today, I am still at Manchester United and I am fighting to try to take the club even higher," Pogba said at a press conference at France's Clairefontaine base, according to the site. "We have all heard these things that have been said. What to respond? Yes, all footballers would like to play for Real Madrid. Maybe it is a dream. It is a dream for me. Why not one day?"

"Essentially Paul pogba being everything right and everything wrong with the system." one of the tweets read."How good has he been since he joined? I'm beginning to think he looked good at Juventus because he had Pirlo and other great players to hide behind," a fan wrote. "He should be on the bench at best. He is a massive failure, all ‘talent’ but no performance. A negative influence on the club & should be sold/swapped ASAP," a fan said.

Pogba's contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of the current season, although United do have an option to extend it further by a year.
