Model mentor Paul Palmero on exile from Cuba, and wanting to be Frank Sinatra

Paul Palmero reflects on his career as a model and talks about how things have changed in the industry over time.
PUBLISHED MAY 1, 2018

Paul Palmero was a natural in front of the camera which also became the reason for his quick rise to fame. His 15 years of success as a model began at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City where he studied acting. At this time, Palmero was given an opportunity to work on a motion picture in Rome and this happened to be the start of a journey which he had never expected.

While working on the film in Rome, an international photographer asked Palmero to appear in Harpers Bazaar magazine and soon after this, there was a line full of other magazines trying to get in touch with him just so he could grace the cover of their magazines. However, Paul soon realized his love for the other side of the camera and began shooting models, actors, and entertainers around the globe. From 2000 to 2009 Paul owned Palmero Models Inc. but is now retired and focuses on helping young models and working on his memoirs. Talking to Meaww, Paul explains how things have changed in the modeling industry and reflects on his career.
