DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: A month before Lindsay Clancy allegedly killed her three children and attempted suicide, her husband Patrick Clancy confided in a family friend about her mental health issues. He expressed concerns that Lindsay might be experiencing withdrawal symptoms from anxiety medication.

In an apparent attempt to commit suicide on January 24, 2022, Lindsay Clancy, a 32-year-old nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, allegedly strangled and killed her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 7 months, before jumping from the bedroom window of her house.

Family friend had seen Clancy first time 'in a couple of months'

Clancy and Patrick had dinner with their friends two days before the incident, and Lindsay "seemed fairly normal, mostly quiet while on her phone and keeping to herself," their friend said as per the court records obtained by Fox News. The friend was "actually surprised" that Clancy was there as Patrick had told them about her health. The family friend didn't know she was coming that night, documents reveal further. The family friend had seen Clancy first time "in a couple of months."

Lindsay had the 'worst side effects possible'

Patrick had told his pals that Lindsay had received more prescriptions in the month and a half prior to the incident, and he was worried that she was going through withdrawal from the anxiety drug benzodiazepines, the outlet reported citing the court documents. He told them Lindsay "had the worst side effects possible."

The report said during a morning daycare dropoff, "Pat looked as though he was having a rough morning" and later he opened up to his friend's wife. On January 5, Patrick contacted her to express his concern about Lindsay's treatment and medication, stating that he thought she had "been prescribed too many medications." however as per the court document, he had not told his friend that he feared his wife would hurt herself, as per the court documents.

The court appearance was delayed to July 25

Clancy was taken to Tewksbury State Hospital as the court appearance set for Tuesday was delayed to July 25. The case is currently in Plymouth District Court. During her arraignment on February 7, her attorney, Kevin Reddington, disclosed that Lindsay was paralyzed from the waist down. She appeared for arraignment from her hospital bed via Zoom and was seen wearing a neck brace and facemask.

What defense and prosecution have said so far?

Reddington said Tuesday that if the matter ends up in superior court, he intends to submit a move to change the venue. Clancy's defense team has suggested that Lindsay, now charged with murder, assault, and battery with a deadly weapon and strangulation for the deaths of each of her three children, was being mishandled by a "flawed" mental health care system and that her medication had turned her into a "zombie."

Prosecutors have argued it and portrayed it as a premeditated murder alleging Lindsay of setting up her husband to run errands. Patrick returned home to an odd silence after spending less than 30 minutes running a few errands for his wife that evening. He found his wife in their backyard following her suicide attempt and asked where the kids were. She replied, "In the basement."

The heartbreaking moment as children are found dead

First responders heard his screams when he found his three young children in the basement, according to detailed court documents. The incident shook the suburban seaside community, including the first responders who found the young children and tended to Clancy.
