Ozzy Osbourne disqualifies Trump, Biden for being too old: 'If you're fu****g 76, eight years is like death'
Ozzy Osbourne slammed Donald Trump for how he and his administration have handled the coronavirus pandemic before suggesting that he "doesn't know much" about being a president and that there should be an age limit for the Oval Office. The self-professed 'Prince of Darkness' spoke about the upcoming presidential elections that will see Trump competing against Democratic nominee Joe Biden following the revival of Osbourne's 'Ozzy for President' t-shirt that he first launched in 1984.
While the former 'Black Sabbath' frontman cannot run for president himself since he was born across the Atlantic in England, he took a dig at Trump by stating that he would have at least tried to learn what the job entailed before throwing his hat in the ring.
"If I was running for president, I would try and find out a little bit about politics," he told Rolling Stone in an interview. "Because the f****** guy you’ve got in there now doesn’t know that much about it, I don’t think. The Constitution says that anyone can be president. But it's not like anyone could be a f****** heart surgeon and just go in with a scalpel. You have to know what you’re f****** doing."
Ronald Reagan was previously the oldest to have ever become commander-in-chief when he was re-elected for a second term in 1984 and was just 15 days off his 78th birthday when he completed his presidency. With the current candidates, Trump and Biden, who are 74 and 77 respectively, regardless of who wins in November, the United States will have its oldest-ever president by the time they are done with their terms.
Osbourne said it was time an age-limit was introduced because, when you're that old, eight years is a very, very long time and could even mean death. "Anyone who runs for office, I think there should be an age limit," he argued. "Eight years to us is nothing but to us, but if you’re fucking 76, eight years is like death." He also said he could never hold such a position because he was too honest for his own good. "I’m honest enough to say I don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about," he said.
While the singer did not explicitly state who he was backing in November, he said he was less than impressed with the rhetoric Trump and his administration have taken regarding Covid-19 and that thousands are losing their lives because he is refusing to adhere to social distancing and mask guidelines.
"In my lifetime, I’ve never known anything like this," Osbourne said about the pandemic. "It’s getting worse, not better. And this guy’s acting like a fool. I don’t really like to talk politics that much, but I’ve got to say what I feel with this guy."
"There’s not much hope left. Maybe he’s got a trick up his sleeve and he’s going to surprise us all, and I hope he has," he continued. "Recently, over a thousand more people died in one day [in America]. That’s fucking crazy. People got to get with this social distancing and mask-wearing or else it’s never gonna go away."
