The victorious Spanish team had just triumphed over the Lionesses in a closely contested match at Stadium Australia, securing a 1-0 victory over England in the final.

However, this celebration was marred when Luis Rubiales, the male president of Spain's Football Association (FA), embraced and kissed Spanish soccer star Jenni Hermoso on the mouth, triggering a flurry of controversy. 

What happpened during the celebration of Spain's World Cup?

As the Spanish players gathered to receive their gold medals from FIFA president Gianni Infantino, the scene was graced by the presence of dignitaries, including Queen Letizia, who expressed support in her vibrant red ensemble.

Amid the celebratory atmosphere, Spanish Federation boss Luis Rubiales stepped forward to convey his congratulations. He tightly threw his arms around striker Jenni Hermoso, whispering in her ear. The situation turned uncomfortable as he placed both hands on the back of her head and kissed her on the mouth.

The video of the kiss has rapidly spread across the internet, and a significant number of supporters have strongly criticized Luis Rubiales' actions. Furthermore, Jenni Hermoso, when questioned about the incident by Spanish TV station La 1, appeared visibly uneasy as she addressed the embrace.

Her response was candid and to the point, "Eh... yeah, I did not enjoy that." The sentiment remained consistent when she was asked the same question during a live stream on her Instagram from Spain's dressing rooms.
