20-year-old man sexually assaults a horse and ejaculates on its tail after breaking into a barn
An Oregon man who was convicted of sexually assaulting a horse last year was sentenced to 20 months in prison by a Washington County Circuit Court judge. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and complete sex offender and mental health treatment programs.
According to a press release by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, police arrested 20-year-old Kenneth Duyck in April last year after they received a complaint from a resident in the 200 block of Northwest 334th Avenue near Hillsboro who said someone had broken into her stable.
The homeowner told deputies she had gone out to her horse stables that morning and found one of her mares, Ellie, tied up in a manner she had not left it. She also said other items in the area had been disturbed, indicating someone had been there.
Court documents obtained by Fox12 state the homeowner then took a photo of Ellie and sent it to her veterinarian daughter, who said after an examination that it appeared as though someone had sexually assaulted the horse. The authorities then collected DNA evidence from the mare.
When asked if the homeowner suspected anybody, she said she had the previous day refused lodging to a man who called her and asked for permission to sleep on her property. After the call, she said she saw a "homeless-looking" man talking to one of her neighbors and that she saw him frequenting the Cornelius and Forest Grove areas.
On April 24, deputies found Duyck, a transient, parked in a vehicle in the Cornelius Walmart lot. He was subsequently arrested, with the 20-year-old confessing to entering the stables, but only to look for work.
However, his DNA was found to match with the fluid found inside Ellie, with Duyck then admitting to ejaculating on the horse's tail but insisting this was the first time he had sexually assaulted a horse.
A probable cause affidavit of his arrest says the 20-year-old claimed he had made the "bad decision" because he had been off his autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder for more than a month. At the time of his arrest, Duyck was found to have been on parole for a 2017 conviction of burglary and theft relating to his break-in at his uncle's home in 2015.
For sexually assaulting Ellie, Duyck was charged with sexual assault of an animal, second-degree burglary, and probation violation. He pleaded guilty to the charges this past week. Besides the jail sentence and other requirements, the 20-year-old was also barred from owning a horse or any other domestic animal for the next 15 years.
