‘One World’: Beyonce highlights how COVID-19 is disproportionately killing black people, fans call her an 'icon'
Queen B came through and delivered a heartfelt message highlighting how African-Americans are “disproportionately” affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Standing in a picturesque background, Beyonce Knowles-Carter explained how the workforce of many essential services like sanitation workers, deliverymen and mail-men etc is majorly comprised of Black Americans, who do not have the luxury of working from home during these trying times.
She then segues her speech to talk about how African-Americans are severely affected by the crisis, and those people with pre-existing conditions are at even higher risk. “This virus is killing black people and at an alarmingly high rate in America,” explains the ‘Halo’ singer. She then cites an example from her hometown Houston, where according to reports she says 57% of fatal cases are Black Americans. The singer concluded her brief message by urging fans to “stay positive” and “pray for our heroes”.
Fans couldn’t stop singing praises of Beyonce for using her platform and influence to highlight the plight of African-Americans during the pandemic. A fan tweeted, “Outside, coming inside to be SHOOKETH to see whom? On the TV informing THE PEOPLE (THE BLACKS) TO STAY SAFE AND THAT SHE NEEDS US?!?!? Beyoncé, you’re doing good girl. We love you!.”
Another fan wrote, “Yes to our queen, @Beyonce for using her platform to bring awareness to how COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting POC. African-Americans are dying at higher rates because our society has forced them to be essential. Every person needed to be reminded.”

Another fan shared, “I don't want to hear anyone talking smack about Beyonce speaking the truth about how COVID-19 is disproportionately killing black people, because IT IS TRUE.”
