According to a new study by researchers from two major universities, older Americans are more likely to share fake news on Facebook regardless of their race, income, education, and their sharing activity.

The term "fake news" was popularized by Donald Trump during the 2016 US presidential race after he targeted several mainstream media outlets for allegedly maligning his campaign.
