'Thunder v Rockets': Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's game was horrible and poor, say upset Oklahoma fans
The NBA 2020 playoffs are on and the Houston Rockets have liftoff against the Oklahoma City Thunder on August 18. James Harden & Co led the way for the Rockets with a comprehensive 123-108 win in Game 1, and Oklahoma fans were left rueing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's disappointing performance as he failed to convert the starts to a dunk each time he had the ball. Twitter was abuzz with chatter and weigh-ins by fans who called his play "horrible" and "poor."
"Period! Jeff Green and Bmac outscored Shai, Dennis, Ferg, Bazely, Hami, Miscala, and Nerlens... combined," wrote one of the fans.

"Hats off to HOU. Good game. Brough the energy, brought the intensity. See you in Game 2. P.s. CP3, Shai better show TF up and move the damn ball," wrote another Oklahoma fan.

See you in Game 2.

"Shai was nonexistent, CP3 was eh, Dennis wasn’t great. Adams and Gallo played well, but not having Dort hurts a lot and Terrence Ferguson needs to do SOMETHING basketball-related," read one of the comments.

There seemed to be some form going Shai's way, except the timing didn't help. "OKC finally showing signs of beating the zone defence, more Shai drives and ball movement creating offence - Gallo to Shai under the hoop, open Schroeder 3 - hopefully he gets his form back ASAP #ThunderUp," read a post.

Some felt this was no way to play the game. "What are you guys hoping for??? Not gonna win the chip. And we’re not even gonna compete for it for like at least 3 more years. The fanbase has just been way overhyping a bad team with a very bright future. Also I’ve never seen a player be as overhyped as Shai, dudes mid!"

And one of the fans seconded this theory, even though the tweet was a lot less harsh. "cp3 and shai gone have to play better if they want to even have a chance at winning this series," he opined.

The game by itself came with a lot of history, especially after Chris Paul was let go by the Rockets last season. Earlier in the day, talking to TNT's Chris Haynes, Paul said he hasn't spoken to former teammate Harden since his departure from the side. That said, the team, Paul and Shai will have to shrug off the day and even things up in Game 2 on August 20.
