Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ivanka Trump square off over average American's paycheck
The firebrand Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hit out at President Donald Trump's daughter and senior White House aide Ivanka Trump over claims that Americans do not want a living wage. The New York representative reminded the first daughter that while she learned about hourly wages second hand, AOC actually had a first-hand experience working as a waitress for tips.
Ocasio-Cortez, in a tweet on Tuesday, said that Americans deserve a living wage as a "right." The Congresswoman has previously worked in a taqueria and as a bartender. "As a person who actually worked for tips & hourly wages in my life, instead of having to learn about it 2nd-hand, I can tell you that most people want to be paid enough to live," the Congresswoman tweeted to her followers.
