NYC serial attacker fatally stabs man, 83, after assaulting two women in horror crime spree

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: An elderly man was reportedly slashed to death in Brooklyn by someone who is believed to be a serial attacker. The attacker allegedly assaulted two other people in the city. The body of the elderly man was discovered in the elevator of his apartment building, according to police. 

The series of events is said to have begun after a man punched a woman at Pacific Street and Third Avenue, sources revealed. Authorities believe the attacker slashed a woman in the thigh a block later, at 134 Nevins Street. The woman, 31, was rushed to Methodist Hospital for treatment after police responded to a 911 call.

Victim was pronounced dead at the scene

Hours later, the body of the 83-year-old man was discovered in the elevator on the 19th floor at 185 Nevins Street, police have confirmed. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He reportedly had slash wounds to the neck and right arm, and the city Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

Police have released photos of the suspect dressed in a black hoodie. "WANTED for MURDER: On 04/08/23 at 2.21 PM, an unidentified male killed an 83-year-old man inside of 185 Nevins Street in Brooklyn. Earlier, in front of 134 Nevins Street at 1.34 PM, he slashed a 31-year-old female in the leg. Anyone with info is directed to contact NYPD Crimestoppers or call 800-577-TIPS," NYPD wrote on Facebook. 



 

They later posted another photo of the man in the comment section, writing, "This is an updated photo of what Detectives believe the suspect is currently wearing. If you have any information as to the suspect's identity or location call Crimestoppers at 1(800)577-TIPS".

As at least 30 authorities investigated the murder on the scene, nearly half a dozen NYPD patrol cars were spotted. Cops assured people that it was safe to go in. “There’s always something going on in the area,” a neighbor standing outside said, according to New York Post.

Recent murders in Brooklyn

Just a few days ago in April, a 55-year-old man named John Sarquiz was beaten so badly by a person that he died just days later, CBS News reported. He was found unconscious with head trauma in front of a building on 13 Avenue in Dyker Heights and was taken to NYU-Langone Hospital-Brooklyn where he died on April 3. The investigation into his death is onging and a cause of death has not been announced. 

In March, a man was found shot to death inside the stairwell of a Brooklyn public housing complex. According to investigators, the victim, 37, was spotted going into the Nostrands Houses on Batchelder Street in Sheepshead Bay with a friend. He was later found dead with a gunshot wound to his head in the first-floor stairwell area inside the building, ABC7 reported. No arrests have been made.
