According to a nurse who is currently treating the sick in Wuhan, the coronavirus has already infected 90,000 people. The nurse, seen in a video wearing a protective suit and face mask, claimed that this was the actual number, a lot more than the 1975 cases government officials are citing, stated a Daily Mail report.

This warning from the nurse comes amid allegations that the Chinese government is censoring criticism of handling the outbreak. The death toll has now risen to 56 and has spread worldwide.

In the video footage that has been making the rounds online, the unnamed nurse said: "I’m in the area where the coronavirus started. I’m here, to tell the truth. At this moment, Hubei province, including the Wuhan area, even China, 90,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus."

It was also reported that the video has generated close to two million views. She shared: "I would like to say that everyone who is currently watching this video should not go outside. Don’t party. Do not eat out."

"Once a year, we celebrate Chinese New Year. If you are safe now, you will be able to meet your family again healthy next year," she added. The nurse also made desperate pleas for supplies in the clip.

"We don’t care what the government says. I will tell you through social media. Everyone, please donate masks, glasses, and clothes to Wuhan. Please help us. Please donate disposable goggles, disposable masks, and disposable clothing. Currently, our resources are not enough."

Chinese President Xi Jinping said the country was facing a grave situation. "The country is facing a grave situation where the coronavirus is accelerating its spread," he said on national television.

Grisly clips have started surfacing on Chinese social media platforms yesterday and were being deleted shortly after the uploads, according to our earlier report. Meanwhile, cities across the United States are placed on high alert with two coronavirus cases confirmed in Chicago and Washington.

The United States government is planning to evacuate American diplomats and citizens from Wuhan.  According to our earlier report, there are roughly 1,000 Americans living in Wuhan and those who choose to evacuate with the diplomats will have to pay for their spot on the plane.
