MIAMI, FLORIDA: The third GOP debate took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami, Florida, hosted by Lester Holt, Kristen Welker, and Hugh Hewitt and had several important talking points. However, one particular thing was focused on by viewers – Ron DeSantis’ outfit.

Florida Governor and GOP candidate DeSantis’ outfit stood out in comparison with the other candidates, and even his own outfits in the first and second GOP debates, and the internet was quick to notice. On X, formerly known as Twitter, several people criticized DeSantis’ outfit, especially his tie.

People claimed that the Florida governor did a “sloppy job” with his tie and highlighted the absence of a lapel carrying the American flag.

During the third GOP debate in Miami, Florida, the governor of the state, Ron DeSantis wore a white shirt with a blue tie, as opposed to his opponents Vivek Ramaswamy and Tim Scott, who went for a navy suit and red tie.

Another thing viewers noticed was the absence of the American flag lapel pin on DeSantis’ suit.

In the first GOP debate, The Wall Street Journal labeled the navy suit and red tie “the Trumpian dress code.”

Internet says Ron DeSantis is ‘not patriotic’

As Ron DeSantis delivered several remarks during the third GOP debate, the internet couldn’t help but focus on his outfit, ruthlessly mocking the Florida governor. One user wrote, “Ron DeSantis did a sloppy job with his tie, and his head bobbing is clownish.”

DeSantis’ tie was especially mentioned on X, as one user wrote, “I guess @RonDeSantis doesn’t think he should rep an American flag on his lapel? He also thought he should wear a black and white tie? Who does this man represent?” and another said, “@RonDeSantis is not patriotic. Where’s your flag pin, and red tie?”

“Okay, who from @RonDeSantis campaign is responsible for this weak tie choice.. and knot… and lack of American flag pin #GOPDebate @NBCNews,” mocked one user.

A fourth person declared, “The tie that Ron DeSantis is wearing is a bad choice. Also, his suit looks too big #NBCDebate #GOPDebate.”

The internet continued highlighting parts of DeSantis’ outfit. “The blue tie says it all,” said one user on X.
