Amanda McClure: NC woman had sex with own dad and married him after murdering boyfriend with the help of sister
In a grotesque tale that involves murder and incest, a North Carolina woman pleaded guilty to murdering her sister's boyfriend in a Valentine's Day "game". The supposed murder scheme was reportedly set up by the sisters themselves, as one of them could marry their father. In February 2019, Anna Marie Choudhary, 33, her sister Amanda McClure, 31, Amanda's then-boyfriend John McGuire, 38, and their father, 55-year-old Larry McClure, were at Larry's home in Skygusty, West Virginia when the crime took place.
Amanda and Larry, who were reportedly methamphetamine addicts, set up what Anna Marie described as a "game" where they tied John up. They smashed a wine bottle over his head, threatened to kill him, claiming that he was working for the government as an informant. They allegedly ordered Anna Marie to kill him and said that if she didn't, they would harm her children. First, Anna Marie injected him with a "bad batch" of meth. She strangled him and wrapped his body in a trash bag. They buried him, but two weeks later, out of some fear that he was still alive, Amanda ordered her sister to dig him up again. She dismembered him, buried his body parts in two different places, and two weeks after this, Amanda and her father Larry got married. The entire plot came to light after Larry was arrested. It's unclear what led to his arrest but he confessed immediately. Amanda pleaded guilty as well, and is now in prison. Anna Marie was the last to be sentenced, and she faces 40 years in prison.
What happened during that horrific 'game' night?
On Wednesday, January 28, at her sentencing hearing, Anna Marie gave a blow-by-blow description of the night when the killing took place. Amanda and John were living in Minnesota at the time but were driving to Indiana when their car broke down. Larry and Anna Marie went to collect them and took them to Skygusty. On Valentine's Day, John bought steaks, potatoes and wine for him and Amanda to have a romantic meal. However, the couple were joined by Anna Marie and Larry at Larry's home. It was all fun and games until Amanda suggested a game where she said could prove she can "untie herself from everything". And then, she tied up John. The father and daughter Amanda, had taken homemade meth, which Anna Marie says did not crystallize properly.
Once John was tied up, she said their father's demeanor changed. "He sat down and I don’t know, it was a grin that I’ll never be able to describe. But as John sat up and bent over to untie his feet, and it all happened so quick, but Amanda stood up and grabbed that bottle and bashed him over the back of the head with it. And the next thing I know John had reared up and was leaning back against the wall holding his head. And that’s when Larry looked at me and told me if I knew what was best for my children and wanted them to live, I would follow all instructions that were given to me from that moment on," she told the judge. Until 6 am the next day, Anna Marie says the pair tortured John by beating him and standing on him. They were high on the home-cooked meth and were convinced he was a federal informant and kept demanding to know "who he was".
John begged that he was who he said he was. Anna Marie says he even recited his social security number to them repeatedly. At 6 am on February 15, Anna Marie says her sister ordered her to inject John with a syringe of what she thought was truth serum, but was in fact, it was meth. Anna Marie did as told but rather than kill him, the drugs "made him stronger". '"They stood over me and told me I needed to finish it and needed to strangle him, so that’s what I did," Anna Marie said. Larry then stood on his back, while Anna Marie strangled him with a rope.
Once he was dead, the duo demanded that she wrap his body in a trash bag so they could throw him down a mine shaft. "It’s not something I’ll ever forget because, at that point in time, the body had become fully rigor mortis and in order to...I’m sorry. That’s not a sound I ever want to hear again," she said. They buried the body and Larry and Amanda started their relationship. They got married two weeks after the murder with Anna Marie as their witness. "[They] went on like nothing happened and started having a relationship as soon as he was buried," Anna Marie told the judge.
However, Amanda became worried that John was not actually dead. She asked Anna Marie to help dig up his body and said that there "were still hair growing on his head". To show he was dead, Larry drove bed nails through the body with a sledgehammer. They dug him up again, dismembered him to bury him in two places. Larry and Amanda decided to move to Kentucky so that no one would find out if they moved into Larry's home after they had left. Right after this, Amanda and Larry were arrested. Larry wrote a confession note where he described everyone's role in the murder. He pleaded guilty immediately.
Anna Marie pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, but said that she felt she "didn't have a choice". "Look at my other options. I didn’t feel that I had a choice," she said. She will be sentenced in February and faces up to 40 years behind bars. Amanda is serving a 40-year sentence for second-degree murder. Larry is serving life without parole.
