North Carolina 'Karen' who had gone on racist rampage in viral video dies after fire department truck hits her
A North Carolina 'Karen' who had gone viral in a racist video rant against a black teenager and a woman in a hijab has died after she was mowed down by a fire department truck. The woman, Rachel Dawn Ruit, 41, had suffered from life-threatening injuries after she was hit by the Asheville Fire Department pickup on Monday, July 13, the authorities reveal.
According to an Asheville Police Department spokeswoman Christina Hallingse, Ruit died on Tuesday, July 14, with the APD investigating the incident. On July 13, Hallingse said, "This afternoon at approximately 1.30 pm the Asheville Police Department responded to the 800 blocks of Patton Avenue after reports of a pedestrian being struck in the roadway." "Upon arrival officers located a woman, known to officers as Rachel Dawn Ruit, suffering from life-threatening injuries," Hallingse added.
A witness, Jonathan Rowell, shared that he had seen the accident unfold while in the eastbound lanes of a thoroughfare. Rowell had taken to Facebook to share, "I just witnessed the same lady from that video accidentally step out into traffic on Patton Avenue, going towards downtown Asheville, as she was walking with traffic coming from behind her."
"The Asheville Fire Department truck that you see in the background is the vehicle that she stepped out in front of," the post had continued. Many social media users commented on the news of Ruit's death with some saying she got what was coming to her. One such user wrote, "She deserved it and is no loss to this world, her hate and anger runs to deep." Another user commented, "Karma's a b***h, ain't it?" Another Twitter user who echoed the same sentiments shared, "K.A.R.M.A didn’t waste too much time on this one." "I would say R.I.P, but I'm sure her evil ass is still hurling racist insults in death. Anybody want to know what karma looks like... this is it," wrote another user.

Ruit had made headlines when she was seen in multiple videos in downtown Asheville launching racist attacks on people. She had been arrested on July 4 for allegedly attacking both a woman in a hijab and a black teenager. Ruit had reportedly ripped off the woman's head covering and had grabbed the teenager by the groin. She was arrested and charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree trespassing, according to TMZ reveal.
We had earlier reported that Ruit was seen in a clip launching a profanity-laced rant in North Carolina, verbally abusing a 14-year-old girl. A video of the incident was shared by Nahlah Karimah on Twitter July 1, alleging that the woman also pulled out a knife and chased the teenager in an Asheville park. Ruit can be heard raging, "I'm talking to you b**** who the f*** you lookin' to?" she raged.
"Do whatever you want to b**** get me on camera n*****. You f***ing n*****-loving A-cup b****." The incident of Ruit abusing the girl came a month after an African American woman was verbally abused in broad daylight in the same city. A family is seen in footage being confronted by the woman on the street, threatening "touch me n****r, you go to jail."
