HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA: The police are looking for an unknown suspect after he pushed an eldery Home Depot worker who tried to stop him from stealing. The suspect pushed the old man and he fell to the ground. The shocking shoplifting footage shared by the police shows the unidentified victim working in the garden area of Hillsborough Home Depot on Tuesday, October 18, when he caught the man trying to sneak away with a bunch of power tools.

The 82-year-old man can be seen approaching, confronting the shoplifter, and gently placing a hand on him to no avail. The man, visibly strong-built and wearing a dark Calvin Klein hoodie with a mask, shoved the old man so hard that he fell straight to the ground. Hillsborough Police Department wrote in their Facebook post while sharing the video, "The suspect in this video injured an 82-year-old man while committing larceny from the Home Depot." It continued, "The suspect fled the scene in a white, 4-door, Hyundai Sonata with a North Carolina Temporary tag obscured from witnesses." The suspect got out of the store with what appeared to be a Ryobi 1900 PSI Electric Pressure Washer, with a retail value of $179, a 2700 PSI Brushless Electric Pressure Washer, with a retail value of $419, and a 2000 PSI Electric Pressure Washer, which retails for $239 - a total of $850 in product value. According to policy, if someone steals less than $1,000 worth of merchandise, they may be charged with a misdemeanor offence. On the other hand, if the stolen items exceed that value, they could receive a felony charge with months in prison and a considerably hefty fine.

Shoptlifting incidents have been on the rise across the country as a month ago, a shoplifter in Manhattan left an elderly woman unconscious at a bookstore. The unidentified Black male was fleeing away from a Barnes & Noble store on Saturday, September 10, with $35 worth of Funko Pop! Toys and knocked out a 77-year-old woman as he tried to make his way out of the store. The woman was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with a head injury.

As for the 82-year-old man from Hillsborough, it's unclear whether he suffered a head injury as he appeared to be hitting his head on a potted plant.
