Why was Lewis Hamilton disqualified?
Hamilton's car got disqualified when he was two seconds away in the final laps from Verstappen at the flag.
A technical infringement led to the elimination of Hamilton's Mercedes.
BBC said his car was "declared illegal for excessive wear on the underfloor skid blocks."
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc along with Lewis Hamilton was disqualified after post-race inspections revealed that their car planks were ruled to be excessively worn down and did not meet the required FIA standards. The floor revealed that the car was running too low to the ground.
The upgrade that Mercedes made on its car is considered the cause that ultimately led to Hamilton's disqualification. A new floor on the Mercedes apparently helped to transform its balance.
Mercedes takes responsibility for Lewis Hamilton's disqualification
After the disqualification news, Mercedes admitted that they could have won the race if they had not made a "major strategic blunder."

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said, "Set-up choices on a sprint weekend are always a challenge with just one hour of free practice - and even more so at a bumpy circuit like COTA and running a new package."
"In the end, all of that doesn't matter; others got it right where we got it wrong and there's no wiggle room in the rules. We need to take it on the chin, do the learning, and come back stronger next weekend."
"It is of course disappointing to be disqualified post-race but that doesn't take away from the progress we've made this weekend," said Hamilton in the Mercedes' press release.

A user questioned the US GP, "If 2 out of the 4 cars checked had these issues (which doesn't happen very often) you would imagine then there would be more. Should the others been checked to?"

"This is unbelievable from Ferrari and Mercedes. With these infringements it's costing P6 & P2 for them respectively. After all the fight and drama, it's totally unacceptable and so irresponsible from teams." said one user.
