Two feisty politicians seem to indulge in a Twitter exchange that has caught everyone’s attention. So, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a series of tweets. First, she said, “To get the virus under control, we need to pay people to stay home.” She also said, “Republicans are mad at this when they literally just voted to do just this in March. The reason they’re opposed to it now is because, the last time they got a Wall Street bailout, and this time all that’s left is helping working people, the disabled, the poor, etc.” She added, “Funny how you didn’t hear Republicans complain about “spending other people’s money” or ask “how are we going to pay for it?!” when they insisted on creating a $4 trillion leveraged slush fund for their Wall Street buddies in March.”

Now, Nikki Haley quote tweeted her first statement and shot back, “AOC, Are you suggesting you want to pay people to stay home from the money you take by defunding the police? Or was that for the student debts you wanted to pay off, the Green New Deal or Medicare for All? #WhereIsTheMoney” Not the one to back down, AOC replied, “Nikki, I’m suggesting Republicans find the spine to stand up to their corporate donors & vote for the same measures they did in March, except without the Wall St bailout this time. And I know you’re confused abt actual governance but police budgets are municipal, not federal.” She also added, “Utterly embarrassing that this woman was a governor & still doesn’t have a grasp on public investment. Wonder if she says federal financing works like a piggy bank or household too? All this faux-seriousness from folks who worship Trump for running the country like his casino.”

Their exchange created a lot of buzz on Twitter. One user said, “AOC, you should charge Nikki, the pro-capitalist Haley, for this Twitter tuition. Awesome schooling!” Another alleged, “Take back the money Trump gave the billionaires, Nikki. Trickle-down didn’t work. It never has so we want OUR MONEY BACK!.” Another commented, “Watching while Alexandria Ocasio Cortez drags Nikki Haley absolutely made this liberal South Carolinian’s tonight.” A user said, “American's response to Nikki Haley finding time to troll AOC but remaining silent on Trump's attempt to obstruct the voting process.” One shared, “Not sold on AOC's politics, but at least I know better than to take her on on social media, Nikki...”

According to a CNBC report, Senator Chuck Schumer in a press conference said on Thursday, November 19, “Last night, they’ve agreed to sit down and the staffs are going to sit down today or tomorrow to try to begin to see if we can get a real good Covid relief bill. So there’s been a little bit of a breakthrough in that McConnell’s folks are finally sitting down and talking to us.” However, the report also states that Republican and Democratic congressional aides told NBC News that Schumer might have oversold the development, as both sides begin negotiations on government funding to avoid a government shutdown on December 11. On Monday, November 16, president-elect Joe Biden had said, “For millions of Americans who’ve lost hours and wages, or have lost jobs, we can deliver immediate relief, and it need be done quickly. Congress should come together and pass a Covid relief package.”
