Who is Nicolae Miu? Minnesota man accused of killing teen while water tubing claims 'self-defense'
SOMERSET, WISCONSIN: Nicolae Miu, the 52-year-old Minnesota man who was accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old boy and four others who were tubing down the Apple River in Somerset, Wisconsin, on July 30, has been charged two days after the violent attack. The accused claims that he lashed out in self-defense.
Miu has been charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide of 17-year-old Isaac Schuman, of Stillwater, and four counts of first-degree intentional attempted homicide of four other people from Minnesota and Wisconsin. The four injured victims have been identified as a 24-year-old woman from Burnsville, Minnesota, a 20-year-old and 22-year-old male from Luck, Wisconsin, and a 22-year-old male from Elk River, Minnesota, who are in stable condition. Their injuries range from serious to critical with stab wounds to their torsos and chest areas, as per Fox 9.

Who is Nicolae Miu?
Nicolae Miu is from the Minneapolis suburb of Bloomington, who went to Robbinsdale Armstrong Senior High in Plymouth and studied mechanical engineering at South Dakota State University.
According to his Facebook page, the accused works at Ritchie and lives in Prior Lake, Minneapolis. He is married and his wife's name is Sandi Miu, as per Heavy. The outlet reports that a previous marriage ended in divorce, according to court records.
Facebook posts related to guns
Miu’s top post on Facebook showed a man, woman, and young child aiming long guns with scopes. “This is quality family time and gun control all in one. Repost because the communist at Facebook are covering it up and deleting,” the post reads. He shared the post on July 28, 2022.
He shared a post in March 2020 that read, “I believe in the right to keep and bear arms. A Facebooker has challenged all gun owners to put this on their wall. The U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right of an individual. If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, and you are not afraid to show it, re-post this!! Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”
In 2019, Miu shared a photo of a gun with ammo inside a heart-shaped box and wrote, “Big thanks to my wonderful wife! I love my present! Happy Valentine’s day to you too!”
Miu, who has no criminal history in Minnesota court records, has claimed self-defense and has a preliminary hearing at 10 am on August 12, 2022.
