Devastated husband demands a full inquiry after wife died of cervical cancer as NHS doctors failed to diagnose her illness six times
A nurse who was dying recorded a heartbreaking final message slamming the health chiefs for the mistakes that ultimately cost her life. Julie O'Connor, who used to work for the National Health Service (NHS) for 13 years, was mistakenly told six times that she did not have cervical cancer. In the video, the 49-year-old woman sits propped up in her hospital bed and barely manages to whisper. The mother-of-two said: "It’s disgusting I have been suffering the way I have and I continue to suffer."
The Daily Mail reported that as her struggle to continue becomes more visible, her husband Kevin speaks and says that a series of doctors had failed for more than three years to diagnose her illness. He says in the video: "We hold them fully accountable. The pathologist and the gynecologist, who had several opportunities to intervene, I hold them responsible, and I do hold the board of directors at North Bristol Trust accountable."
