Shortly after the incident, KTVI's Steincross issued an apology again for the gaffe on Friday and also announced that he was stepping away from his anchor duties indefinitely
UPDATED JAN 28, 2019

A newscaster from St Louis has been put on indefinite leave by his television network after he used a racial slur while pronouncing Martin Luther King Jr.'s name. The move by the local channel came after viewers called for Kevin Steincross' resignation.

Shortly after the incident, KTVI's Steincross issued an apology again for the gaffe on Friday and also announced that he was stepping away from his anchor duties indefinitely, according to reports.

The anchor was speaking on KTVI’s morning news show on January 17 when he said  "Martin Luther C**n Jr."  while referring to the civil rights icon.
