New Jersey bill proposes to give abused animals legal representation in court

If the bill proposed New Jersey State Assemblywoman Annette Quijano gets passed, attorneys and law students will be able to represent the animals in court through pro bono work
UPDATED JAN 8, 2019

Animals usually do not have the recourse to legal representation in court but that could all be a thing of the past very soon, at least in New Jersey. According to reports, a new bill proposed in New Jersey by State Assemblywoman Annette Quijano is looking to offer any abused animals legal representation.

If the bill gets passed in the court, attorneys and law students will have the opportunity to represent the animals in the courts in New Jersey through pro bono work.

PIX11 reported that those who have volunteered in the venture will be able to monitor their client's case and represent the animal's best interests in court. They will also be able to review records that are related to the case.
