ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO: An Amber Alert has been issued in New Mexico for two-year-old Johnny Arias from Albuquerque after local officials said he was allegedly taken by his own father. Police are urging anyone with information to call 911 as soon as possible.

While details about the circumstances of Johnny's disappearance were not immediately released, police are certain he was abducted by his biological father. The two-year-old boy was last seen at 7:20 pm on Sunday in the 9800 block of Sun Chaser Trail SW in Albuquerque, the Albuquerque Journal reports.

Authorities identified the father as 28-year-old Jose Rito Arias, a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. Meanwhile, his son is described as a two-year-old Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 2 feet tall and weighing 30 pounds.

Furthermore, it is believed Jose took off with his biological son in a black 2011 KIA Sorento SUV bearing a New Mexico turquoise centennial license plate MLC-370.

Authorities have not released any further details about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, or if Jose Arias is armed or has a violent criminal history. However, investigations are underway and police have urged citizens to reach out if any information about the child surfaces.

“It is unknown where Jose has taken the child. Many details are still unknown and under investigation,” the Albuquerque Police Department said in the Amber Alert. “However, of urgent concern is the whereabouts of Johnny Arias. Johnny Arias is missing and is believed to be in danger if not located.”

Anyone who sees little Johnny, his father Jose, or the aforementioned vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Albuquerque Police Department at (505) 242-COPS if you possess any other information that could help investigators.
