New Jersey man, 20, admits to raping and stabbing 11-year-old Abbie Smith to death
A New Jersey man who was charged in the rape and murder of his 11-year-old neighbor has pleaded guilty to the charges and will therefore not stand trial. 20-year-old Andreas Erazo pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and first-degree aggravated sexual assault in connection with the July 2017 death of Abbiegail "Abbie" Smith.
According to a press release by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Abbie was reported missing from her Hancock Street apartment in Keansburg at around 9:24 pm on July 12, 2017. Keansburg Police subsequently joined forces with the prosecutor's office to launch a joint investigation.
The next morning, around 10:20 am, detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor Office's Forensic and Technical discovered an object wrapped up in a blanket or comforter on a roof overhang behind her apartment complex.
