'New Amsterdam' Season 3 Episode 4: Will Max bring Luna back or is it safer for her to be with grandparents?

Dr Max Goodwin tries to convince himself that it is safe enough to bring his daughter back to New York with him

Season 3 of 'New Amsterdam' has shown us that Dr Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) is distraught about many things, the state of healthcare during and after the pandemic, a dilemma over opioids that led to patients suffering, not to mention the ill health of his colleague Dr Vijay Kapoor (Anupam Kher). But what always seems to bring a smile to Max's face, no matter the chaos in the world, is a video chat with his daughter Luna.

However, in the upcoming episode, it looks like even video calls simply won't be enough for Max anymore. Max takes the decision to go to Connecticut to pick up his daughter from her grandparents' home. We have seen Max struggling as a single parent ever since he lost his wife, but it seems the struggle of living without Luna is greater.

In a teaser out on the show's Twitter page, we see Max talking about how he has missed Luna's first steps and her first birthday. He doesn't want to miss anything else. He says that he is coming to take Luna home for good.

But while Max almost seems to be trying to convince himself it's safe enough, will he finally decide that Luna is in fact safer, in the stable life her grandparents offer her. At the end of the day Max is the director of one of the biggest public hospitals in New York and as he grapples with a "new normal" as a frontline worker, does he have the time he needs to devote to a toddler as a single parent?

Max's visit to Luna is also bound to be an emotional one not just because of the decisions he has to make, but because he also pays a visit to his wife's grave.
