'New Amsterdam' Season 3 Episode 4: 'Duke of Hearts' Floyd Reynolds may be back on show, not everyone's happy
Jocko Sims fans are in for a treat if the trailer of Season 3 Episode 4 of 'New Amsterdam' can be taken at face value. The trailer sees Dr Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) saying, "The Duke of Hearts returns". Reynolds shifted base to San Francisco at the end of Season 2 of 'New Amsterdam' with his fiance Evie (Margot Bingham) but was called back to 'New Amsterdam' as a visiting expert when Dr Vijay Kapoor's (Anupam Kher) cardiac issues required his skill.
Reynolds did not just save Kapoor from the brink of death, but it seems that he could put some life back into his former flame Dr Lauren Bloom's (Janet Montgomery) step as well, who the pandemic has hit particularly hard. But if Reynolds is indeed back in the fold not everyone is happy to share space with him.

If you thought Max was the one who was going to get into an ego tussle with Dr Cassian Shin (Daniel Dae Kim), well, it looks like Floyd got to that point much quicker. The trailer of Season 3 Episode 4 shows Dr Shin telling Dr Floyd that he's asking for a second pair of hands in surgery, not a second opinion and then proceeds to tell him to get out.
But we doubt that Reynolds will be wasting any precious time worrying too much about Shin, when there are many more exciting relationship angles to pursue. Floyd and Lauren shared a quiet but powerful moment recently. Fans are keen to see if more emotionally intimate moments like this are on the cards. Sims in a recent interview said, "Whatever their dynamic becomes, which I can't reveal, I will say that it will be a strong one. I'll also add that more than anything, they've been such good friends. And for me, as we've been shooting episodes this season, you just see a strong bond there. And you will find that there'll be a lot more story of Reynolds and Bloom to come. They'll spend some more time, more scenes together. A lot more than in the past."
Well, that sounds promising for Lauren but what does that mean for fiance Evie?
"Well, I would say that when you have a relationship like Reynolds and Evie where it was tumultuous in the sense of the wedding planning on his own he has to do and she's married already to the career, he's married to his career, should we, should we not? It's a lot of seesaw. And that makes it very fragile, I think. And so when you make a decision to have to go back suddenly, especially in a time of a pandemic, I guess the question would naturally be, what are we doing? Are we making the right decision?"
Sims goes onto say the last thing you want for an on-screen relationship is for it to not be interesting. It's interesting only when you have hurdles and there are hurdles in store for Floyd and Evie.
