If you are a fan of thriller movies, then Netflix has something amazing coming for you. The streaming platform is set to expand its catalog with the highly anticipated film ‘The Weekend Away’. Based on the book of the same name by Taylor Adams, the movie sees two best friends, Beth and Kate, going on a holiday.

They reach Lisbon, Portugal, and enjoy their vacation. However, things turn upside down when Kate (Christina Wolfe) goes missing after a wild night and Beth (Leighton Meester) doesn’t remember a single thing from the previous night. The whole scenario becomes worse when Beth is accused of killing Kate and she has nothing to prove her innocence. She embarks on a journey to find the truth and prove her innocence.

The upcoming movie seems to be another worthy addition to Netflix’s catalog that already has thriller movies like ‘The Guilty’, ‘Bird Box’, and ‘The Woman in the Window’. It will be interesting to see if ‘The Weekend Away’ gets the reception like the aforementioned titles.

Leighton Meester as Beth

Born on April 9, 1986, Leighton Meester is probably one of the prominent names working in the industry right now. She began her professional career as a model and made her acting debut at the age of 13. She made a cameo appearance on ‘Law & Order’ and marked her debut. Meanwhile, in 2003, she made her feature film debut with ‘Hangman’s Girl’.

Her first major acting role came in 2005 when she was cast as Savannah Barnett on the TV show ‘Surface’. However, her moment of glory came in 2007 when she played the role of Blair Waldorf on ‘Gossip Girl’. The character made her a superstar and took her popularity to a whole new level. She won the Best Actress accolade at the Teen Choice Awards.



 

Since then, she has featured on high-end ventures such as ‘Date Night’, ‘The Roommate’, ‘Monte Carlo’, ‘The Judge’, ‘24’, ‘Veronica Mars’, ‘Making History’, and ‘How I Met Your Father’. 

Christina Wolfe as Kate

Born in London, United Kingdom, Christina Wolfe graduated in English and Philosophy from Durham University. She began her professional acting career with stage shows and went on to make her TV debut with ‘Doctor Mateo’ in 2010. Four years later, she made her feature film debut with ‘Sleeping Beauty’. From 2014 to 2016, Wolfe made appearances in projects like ‘Hercules Born’, ‘Fury’, ‘Angel of Decay’, and ‘Holby City’.



 

In 2016, she garnered her first major acting role on ‘The Royals’. She portrayed the role of Kathryn Davis on the show and received a lot of praise for her acting. Meanwhile, in 2019, she became a part of the DC Universe after she was cast as Julia Pennyworth on The CW show ‘Batwoman’.

Ziad Bakri as Zain

The Palestinian actor and filmmaker made his acting debut with a couple of short movies. In 2008, Ziad Bakri made his TV debut with the British TV movie ‘The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall’. Meanwhile, 2009 saw him making his feature film debut with the French-Israeli film ‘Zion and His Brother’.

His debut short movie as a director ‘The Salt Fisherman’ turned out to be really successful and was nominated for Muhr Arab Award at the Dubai International Film Festival. Since then, he has made appearances in projects like ‘Miral’, ‘Self Made’, ‘The Bureau’, ‘Screwdriver’, and ‘Give up the Ghost’.



 

This is Ziad Bakri’s first Hollywood feature film as an actor.

Luke Norris as Rob

Born on June 3, 1985, Luke Norris is an English actor who began his professional career in 2008 with projects such as ‘The Inbetweeners’, and ‘The Duchess’. The actor’s first major role came in 2015 with the British historical drama ‘Poldark’, in which he played the character of Doctor Dwight Enys.

‘Titanic’, ‘Been So Long’, ‘Our World War’, and ‘The Colour Room’ are some of the projects he has appeared on.
