Netflix 'Schumacher': Michael and wife Corinna made a perfect couple
Spoilers for 'Schumacher'
Minus the high-octane racing, the breakneck speed at which he overtook his famed opponents, and the achievements on the Formula One grid across the world for well over a decade, there's also that one part which shows Michael as the man who loved his wife dearly, and the reciprocation was equal. 'Schumacher', on Netflix, gives a brief glimpse of the love and sacrifices that make their love story a heartwarming tale.
One of the examples was how his wife Corinna spent her nights sometimes in the bathroom sitting on the toilet and reading her book so as to not disturb Schumacher's sleep, especially ahead of a big race or one that needed him to win to keep his career graph skyrocketing. And at the same time, the 52-year-old recalled how he would not wake her up when she was asleep. Michael would just whisper he was leaving and give his wife a kiss and be gone.

Another instance was when he joined the Ferrari ranks. With a car that was a lot less fast than McLaren and the Mercedes, the onus was on the German to deliver, and that would mean staying with the mechanics to dissect and fix the car from scratch. And as painstaking as that was, Corinna recalls Michael by her side during the breaks between the meetings with Ferrari. "He would make time, eat with me, and then head back, and come again."
Ultimately, the efforts and the compromises were all worth it. Michael won his first Championship with Ferrari in 2000 after joining them in 1996. He went on to win four titles with the team. After finishing third in 2005 and second in 2006, Schumacher retired, although he later made a brief return with Mercedes from 2010 to 2012. The first championship sees one footage where Corinna is seen almost in tears watching her husband celebrate on the podium. Driving for Ferrari came with major expectations, but at that moment, it was a huge burden off his back.
With the pressure off, the racer won titles consistently and in each race, the approach to his work and the loyalty to family was unflinching.
