'First Kill' on Netflix: Fans think critics have 'deep-seated hatred for lesbians'

'First Kill' happens to be one of those shows that won over the masses but failed to (for most part) impress critics. The queer vampire drama currently has a 91% Audience Score over a 46% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes and critics' reviews seem to have offended allies and possibly even members of the LGBTQIA community.

With Imani Lewis and Sarah Catherine Hook playing the lead roles of star-crossed lovers, 'First Kill' is a series that follows the events that unfold after a vampire and a monster hunter irrevocably fall for each other. While it packed quite the bite and made for an engaging watch, it didn't seem to impress the critics, who called it "cheesy" and "dull," and were also of the opinion that it didn't "break any new ground in the genre." This didn't sit well with fans of the show, who were already upset with the way 'First Kill' ended. Read on to know what they had to say about the criticism!

"If #FirstKill was about two men falling in love, Variety and all other critics as well as straight viewers would be hailing it as groundbreaking and revolutionary," a fan tweeted. "Maybe, just maybe - First Kill isn't meant for you, straight-insulting-reviewers. Not everything has to be for and about straight people or men. Let viewers enjoy it in peace. And let us have a S2. #FirstKill," shared another.

"Yeah i need y’all to keep #firstkill trending these nasty critics seem determined to get it cancelled because they have deep seated hatred for lesbians so," a fan opined. Another seconded, tweeting "It is always disheartening when a female positive #LGBTQ show constantly gets shit on by critics…F them haters…I LOVED #FirstKill@netflix".

"Critics" couldn't even give it a day before shitting all over #firstkill. Like maybe take a look around and think how stupid & ignorant your reviews are. Everyday critics prove that Brie Larson was correct in what she said," read a tweet, while another fan just wanted the show to be seen for what it is, tweeting "I don’t get why critics are expecting a boat load of backstory in an 8 episode season. Like damn, can y’all let the show play out instead of asking why they did not put this and that in it. Lot of nitpicking in these reviews. #FirstKill".
