At the time of writing, #WeWantToPlay was trending on Twitter at No. 2 and had every reason to be up there. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is seriously considering the cancellation of the fall college sports due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. Several media outlets have already reported that talks about canceling all fall sports are doing the rounds. This news saw Twitter abuzz with complaints about how jacked up the system actually was.

This article shows a string of tweets that saw pure displeasure expressed by netizens towards NCAA.

"NCAA finally looking to pull the plug on the 2020 season because if they go through with it, they’ll have to concede that student athletes are inherently different from typical students and that would open Pandora’s box into actually paying them," read one of the tweets.

For a few, it was about time the world started accepting Covid-19 as part of life and that shouldn't be the reason the NCAA should take decisions that would impact the lives of athletes and their families. "My opinion and just me there is no safe place from the virus we could be as careful as all get out and get it. We have to live play and pray. Canceling life isn’t the answer. @sec @ncaa let’s play let’s live let’s win. Staying home isn’t the answer #LetThemPlay," an opinion read.

A few people also felt the elections and voting had to be taken into consideration if this was the route the organization would be taking. "As the NCAA & their Liberal Presidents cancel football this fall 4 the SAFETY of student athletes, coaches, fans & staff let this b another reason why we need to postpone the election 2 a date where we can all feel safe 2 vote n person @ polls. Nov 3rd is about as fall as u get," a person remarked.

This was a more logical question: "MLS, NBA (the most political of leagues), MLB, NHL, and presumably NFL have found a way to play games with or without fans... why can’t college, even it’s without fans??"

And another gave a possibly valid argument: "It’s not safe for Ncaa to have fall sports, but it’s safe for all universities to have kids come back? It’s safe for k-12 to go back to school? This system is so jacked up."

"If season ends up being canceled. The ncaa can blame themselves because they haven’t presented any safety precautions for student athletes or staff members. All they’ve said was, 'you can practice,' and that’s it," wrote a disgruntled fan.

To sum up, the conspiracy theorists had already started off: "Here is my conspiracy theory: the NCAA purposely leaked fake information to media outlets about cancelling the season to get players and their family to speak out against it. This will take the heat off the NCAA by having unpaid amateurs risk their health. Please credit if true."
