Jonathan Maxey Bulluck Jr., of Rocky Mount, North Carolina is facing charges of felony animal cruelty and felony larceny of a dog in the death of his aunt’s brown bullmastiff, Tigger. According to reports, Bulluck cut the dog in half after stabbing it fatally, as stated by Wilson County Sheriff Calvin Woodard.

Reacting to the horrific death of Tigger’s that occurred on January 24, Woodard said, “This is the worst, isolated case of animal cruelty I can recall”. He further added, “The suffering that the dog endured … it was something out of a horror movie.”

Investigators established that while he was staying at his aunt's, Bulluck stole the dog before beating it unconscious and cutting the animal’s body in half to ensure it would fit in the shallow grave, where only one half of Tigger’s remains were recovered. Bulluck’s unnamed aunt told the officials that her nephew told her that Tigger had jumped on a 2-year-old child who resides in the neighborhood. However, the toddler sustained no injuries, said Bulluck’s aunt to the sheriff.

But, when she didn’t find Tigger in his leash the next morning, she recollected Bulluck saying earlier that he “would’ve killed the dog,” according to the sheriff office’s incident report. Tigger’s sudden absence prompted her to call the police; her nephew went missing at around the same time. The investigators eventually found Tigger’s body in the shallow grave.

Woodard’s official statement read, “This pet had the right to be home, not stolen, suffering and killed.” He added further, “The offender showed total disregard to his family and their love for ‘Tigger.’ I hope that peace and comfort will one day be obtained by the family who had to endure this tragic loss.”

According to Metro U.K, Bulluck has been booked at the Wilson County Detention Center with a $20,000 secured bond. However, dates regarding his appearance in the court are still uncertain. Commenting on the gruesome killing of Tigger, one of the neighbors said, “They need to do something about him because he ain’t right in the head. He’s crazy.”
