NBC 'Dateline': Who are Nicholas Rossi's adoptive parents? Father of the rape accused feels authorities have the right guy
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND: The wicked case of American fugitive Nicholas Alahverdian has stunned the entire globe and it keeps on getting crazier with each passing day. Alahverdian, who faked his own death and fled to the UK to avoid sexual assault and other charges, maintains that the authorities have the wrong person in their custody and claims that his real name is Arthur Knight.
For the uninitiated, Alahverdian, also known as Nicholas Rossi, has been accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women. The first incident took place in January 2008 in which Rossi pinned a Sinclair Community College student against the wall, groped her, and masturbated himself. He told her not to tell anybody about this incident, but the victim didn’t take a step back and reported the case to the police. Since then, he has been accused of doing similar things to multiple women. Over the years, he has used different aliases but committed all his crimes under the alias of Nicholas Rossi. The accused is now in the custody of Scottish authorities after his December 2021 arrest from a hospital in Scotland.

Rossi and all the disgraceful crimes committed by him will be featured on the upcoming episode of NBC’s ‘Dateline’. The episode will also talk about his troubled childhood, how he became such a monster and why did he fake his own death in 2020. Since the man’s arrest, a lot of focus has been on his adoptive parents, especially his father David Rossi, who believes that the Scottish agencies have arrested the right guy. Let’s dive a little deeper and get to know more about Nicholas’ adoptive parents.
Who are Nicholas Rossi’s adoptive parents?
There’s very little information about Nicholas’ parents, but according to several reports, Nicholas Rossi’s biological father was an alcoholic and used to be really violent. He was only three years old when his father abandoned the family. Nicholas’ mother met a man named David Rossi in 1994 and began a relationship.
David was traveling the world as an Engelbert Humperdinck impersonator and met Nichola’s mother in 1994. Meanwhile, Nicholas’ mother Diana was working as a waitress at the same venue David was performing.
They dated each other for two years and finally tied the knot in 1996. After the marriage, David adopted her three children including Nicholas and his younger siblings Diandra and Joseph. Soon David understood that all the kids, especially Nicholas, were really in a bad shape and would destroy his apartment. In an interview with The Scottish Sun, David said that they destroyed his apartment. He added, “When I tell you they destroyed my apartment, they were like terrorists. Diana said, ‘This is why I don’t get involved.’ And I said, ‘What do you do to control them?’ She said, ‘Medications and just keep them in the house’.”
The marriage only lasted for six years and the couple got divorced in 2003. After their divorce, he only saw him once when Nicholas demanded that David should come with him to impress a girl because she knew about David’s singing prowess. David said no to him and said that if he ever “demanded” anything from him again, he would “punch him.” That was the last meeting that took place between the two and Nicholas never returned to see David.
In a separate interview, David said that Nicholas was very “manipulative” as a child and everything had to be his way.
Where is Nicholas Rossi now?
At the start of 2023, Rossi applied for bail, which was refused, and several other times throughout the year. Rossi is currently being held in Edinburgh's Saughton Prison with no chance of bail.
