What is the history and significance of National Love Our Children Day?

National Love Our Children Day was founded in 2004 by the non-profit organization Love Our Children USA, whose mission is to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against children. They also offer empowering activities and programs to foster children. It focuses on solving problems impacting children's lives, like online safety, cyberbullying, school violence, and family values. A user shared, “Here’s how you can observe National Love Our Children Day” •Love a child -If you have a child yourself, make it a point of duty to provide a healthy and loving environment for the child to thrive in. If you don’t have a child."

Almost five million people have visited the organization's website since it launched. It has also been mentioned on a lot of radio and television programs that promote awareness for children. More than 1,600 pages of useful content on a range of parenting and child safety themes are available on their website for parents, families, and children.

How to appreciate your children?

1. Surprise them

Spend time with your children. Skip your activities one day and take your child on an adventure.

2. Throw out the rules sometimes

Let your child play with every toy in his room, run in the rain, or play in the mud with him.

3. Hug them more

Saying "I love you" to your child is very important, but don't underestimate the power physical touch has in reinforcing your loving bond with your children. A user posted on Twitter,"Sometimes, when you hug your child, in the deepest corner of your heart, you know it's you that needed this tight hug more than your child."

4. Involve them in decisions

Asking children for their input, whether it's where to get take-out for dinner or something bigger like what they think about, helps in acknowledging that what they have to say matters and that you value their opinion.

5. Most importantly talk to them

Always ask about their day to show them that you’re interested in what goes on in their lives.
